Femoston Review — Is Femoston A Good HRT For Managing Menopause Symptoms?

Menopause symptoms can be tough to manage as things like hot flushes, vaginal dryness and night sweats wreak havoc on your daily life. However, possible relief from your symptoms is available in the form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). There are lots of different types of HRT, including tablets, patches, gels and creams — giving you endless options to choose from.

Femoston is a type of HRT sometimes prescribed if you’re suffering from severe menopause symptoms. In this blog post, we’re going to look at what Femoston is, how it works and if it’s worth taking. Learn more in our review of Femoston.

What is Femoston?

As we mentioned above, Femoston is a type of HRT that can be used to manage troublesome menopause symptoms. Femoston is available as Femoston Conti as well, which is slightly different from the regular Femoston tablets. You can get Femoston as a prescription from your GP. You will need to have regular check-ups while you take it so they can monitor your side effects.

Femoston is available on prescription as Femoston Conti or Femoston Conti-Low and Femoston 1/10 mg and 2/10 mg. It’s only available to women who still have their uterus, as women who do not have theirs will be prescribed oestrogen-only HRT.

How does Femoston work?

Femoston contains estradiol and dydrogesterone — synthetic bioidentical versions of oestrogen and dydrogesterone. When you go through menopause, these hormones drop drastically in your body which is what causes the symptoms you experience.

However, when you take Femoston, the added amounts of estradiol and dydrogesterone help alleviate your symptoms by boosting your hormone levels.

How long does Femoston take to work?

Femoston is a fast-acting HRT. But it can take as little as a few weeks to a few months for you to notice any differences in your symptoms. It takes your body some time to adjust to the new hormone levels. Just because you don’t feel any changes right away, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you long-term.

What is the difference between Femoston and Femoston-Conti?

Femoston is the brand name for this type of HRT and it’s available on prescription as Femoston Conti or Femoston Conti-Low and Femoston 1/10 mg and 2/10 mg. Both types of HRT contain estradiol and dydrogesterone in different doses.

Femoston Conti Low is available as 0.5/2.5 mg and Femoston Conti is available in 1/5mg tablets. Each of these is to be taken every day at the same time. When you take Femoston 1/10 and 2/10, they will have 14 tablets in them that only contain estradiol. The other 14 contain estradiol and dydrogesterone. This is so the hormones mimic a natural menstrual cycle as much as possible, potentially lowering the side effects.

What are the benefits of Femoston?

Taking HRT can have many benefits, Femoston included. As well as reducing your menopause symptoms like hot flushes and vaginal dryness, Femoston can also reduce your risk of developing osteoporosis. When you go through menopause, the change in your oestrogen levels can cause your bones to weaken. However, boosting your oestrogen intake with Femoston can lower your chances of developing osteoporosis long-term.

Taking Femoston can enhance your sleep. Typically, night sweats occur during menopause and they can make it impossible for you to get a good night’s rest. But as Femoston can stop hot flushes and night sweats, you should find you can sleep much easier.
